FILM = Social, Cultural and Economic Impact

Wonderland Cave is exciting audiences and putting the cave's history back in the spotlight. With the help of the projects success so far in development, the film has already had a positive impact on the Northwest Arkansas region...and we're just getting started!

Here's why you should be involved:

Millions in Local

Economic Impact

"An Engine for the U.S. Economy:

When a movie or television show shoots on location, it brings jobs, revenue, and related infrastructure development, providing an immediate boost to the local economy. The film industry pays out $33 billion per year to more than 240,000 businesses in cities and small towns across the country—and the industry itself is comprised of more than 122,000 businesses, 92 percent of which employ fewer than 10 people. As much as $1.3 million can be injected into local economies per day when a film shoots on location."

Showcasing Arkansas'
Best

Wonderland Cave has earned accolades at each step of development and is projected to continue.

As a Northwest Arkansas native, the writer and creator, Krista Bradley, is excited to use the film to celebrate Arkansas' rich historical culture and exciting future with the audience, showcasing some of Arkansas' most talented artists and most beautiful landscapes and locations that viewers can visit.

Legacy: Bringing the Greats to Arkansas

What will you be remembered for?

When you support Wonderland Cave you support NWA's economy, you celebrate its history, and support our path forward as an official arts destination. You support artists, dreamers, growth, and taking strategic risks. Most of all, you support change in the world's general, outdated perception of Arkansas by spotlighting the beauty, innovation, cunning, resilience, FUN, and pure grit of the communities of Bentonville and Bella Vista in this beautiful film projected to contend for numerous major accolades if produced to fullest potential. Working with Oscar and BAFTA winning talent, like Tennessee Norton Reid (Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas), who's also the grandson of Whitey T. May, the original operating manager of Wonderland, as well as Oscar and BAFTA nominee, Gary Roach, best known for his work on many Clint Eastwood films, like Gran Torino, Letters from Iwo Jima, Changeling, American Sniper, Space Cowboys, and more, we believe Wonderland Cave will be instrumental in reframing how the world sees and visits NWA. Our team also includes award-winning casting director, Marie McMaster (Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, Those Who Wish Me Dead, News of the World, No Country For Old Men). As we continue to raise funds we hope to keep attracting high caliber talent, in addition to working with the best in-state talent.

Increase Tourism by an Average of 31%

"According to studies, a film can significantly increase local tourism

by an average of 31%, with some locations experiencing boosts as high as 300% in visitor numbers due to the exposure from being featured in a movie. For instance, all filming locations of the Harry Potter movies experienced a 50% growth in tourism once the movies were released. Similarly, Braveheart resulted in a 300% increase in tourism to Wallace Monument in Scotland, while Mission Impossible 2 increased tourism to Sydney National Park by 200%. Meanwhile, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movie franchises have had such a massive impact on New Zealand’s tourism that its tourists are specifically called “Tolkien Tourists.” One in every three visitors visits at least one film set. This is just the tip of the iceberg of film-induced tourism.

Key points about film tourism:

  • Significant impact:

A film can dramatically increase tourism to a location by making it recognizable to a wider audience, particularly when iconic landmarks or landscapes are prominently featured."
